This Cat portrait in Pastel was painted in year 2010 on Uart 600 grade sanded paper in size 40 x 30 cm to reproduce as Giclée FIne Art Prints. I painted this portraits with little more vibrant colors then the reference photo had, since the cat in my scene is outside. The cats name is Alexander and he is a big and beautiful Maine Coon Cat. He was born very small so his owner had to tke especially care for him to survive. The person who took the reference photo is from Belgium and she has a Coon Cat cattery. She got a print from me as payment for letting me use her photo as reference for this painting.

Hi Katja, I am speechless... It looks great!! It is completely him! I don't know how you did it, but you really captured his great looks, combined with his attitude and his lust for life. You must know, when he was born, he weighed only 60 grams, while a 'normal' Maine Coon kitten weighs 110 grams... We fed him special milk with a small bottle, night and day, and although no one but us gave him the slightest chance of survival, he pulled through. He's a real survivor, with a great sense of humour who's always in for a joke (he loves to hide behind a corner and scare you when you walk by).
You really did a great job, congratulations!
Hi Katja!
We received the Fine Art Print last Friday, and I must say we were truly surprised. It looks exactly like the pastel painting, and moreover, it looks exactly like Alexander! You managed to capture his entire being on this painting. The look in his eyes is so realistic, he seems to be looking at you through the paper :-) It is also obvious how arrogant he is, and how big his belief that the world revolves solely around him :-). Thank you very much, Katja! You have given us a great piece of art, which will give us lots of smiles and joy!
Hi Katja!
Hi hi, you never guess what happened :-). We were adoring the painting again together with some friends, while Alex was watching us. I had put the painting aside for a moment, and he went and had a look at it. I think he really likes it :-)
Kind regards,
