Final Scan of Wangelisa

This is the latest portrait off my easel, the arab horse portrait in oils on linen canvas. Her name is Wangelisa and she is such a beautiful mare! I had so much fun painting her.

The final scan is puzzled together in three pieces and later edited in photoshop to look as close to the original as possible. I painted the entirety warmer than the original photograph and created a more dramatic light.

Today I also “oiled-out” the canvas, to bring out those dark colors which usually get a bit dull when dry. View the video below.

I mix 50/50 turpentine and walnut oil and use large soft brushes.
