Next Stage of Hunter’s Portrait

This is the next stage of Hunter’s portrait. The entire family got the flu so I’m not working at the moment, but thought it would be nice to post the next stage of Hunter until I get well enough to work again. Hope that will be soon, since it’s so boring to be sick.

Second Step of Ridgeback Alice

This is the second step of Alice, the beautiful Ridgeback. I don’t know why, but I always post my progress images to Facebook first and to my blog the next day. Probably because I have many followers over there and the client for this particular painting is on Facebook too. Anyway, I have also completed the next stage of Hunter which I will blog about tomorrow… so come back and visit tomorrow too.

First Stage of Alice

Yesterday I completed first stage of Alice. First I created a very simple sketch with a HB pencil and later added the outlines and some shadings with three different oil colors: Ivory black, Burnt Umber and Winsor Yellow. A nice sketch of such a beautiful young dog who sadly passed way to soon…

Third Stage of Horse Magic

It can take a while between my blog posts, but I’m trying to get things done here in the studio. I’m working on several paintings and other projects at the same time, so sometimes I simply forget about my blog. Today I started with the portrait of Alice and I will blog that first stage tomorrow. It’s a big portrait and the eyes will be so nice to paint, I can’t wait to continue with it! This week I also painted a little bit on the horse Magic in detailed pastel, you can see how far I got below. As you can see, I still have allot of work left to do, but I will hopefully complete this portrait next week. Hunter is also waiting for me on my wall…

New stages of Portraits

This week went by so fast! Well, allot of things has been going on “behind the scenes”, but nothing yet to write about in my blog. Anyway, I started with the pastel portrait of Magic and painted yet another stage of Hunter. So much work left there! So you can see four progress images below.

Second Stage of Hunter

So I have been painting on Tigerbull and Hunter’s portrait the past 5 days. There is allot of work left to post another stage of Tigerbull, but I managed to complete the second stage if Hunter. I also have a logotype to create this week, so I will keep this post short and go back to work. Hope you like the second stage of Hunter…

First stage of Hunter’s Oil Portrait

So yesterday I started to paint the oil portrait of Hunter. I sketched him up with thin ivory black oil and the painting is now hanging on my wall, drying. I have prepared for the challenge I have in front of me; to make him look like he is outside. This means changing lights, colors and facial expression without ruin his likeness. The progress with this painting will be really interesting, even for me! Anyway, can’t wait to continue with it. Below You can view three photos of me painting, hope you like it so far.

Working The Painting of Tigerbull – Stage 3

For three days this week I have been continuing to paint  the relatively big painting of Tigerbull running in water. One more layer of paint has been added to the canvas and it is now hanging on my wall until it’s dried enough to continue with. This dog painting will take some time to complete as I don’t want to leave out too many details, the water will take some time to complete. Just follow this link to view the previous stages of Tigerbull  >

Tomorrow I will start sketching on the painting of Hunter and next week I will start the portrait of Magic.

Sketching on Abbey

Yesterday I started with the pastel sketch of Abbey and after hours of work I took a photo of my hand sketching it earlier today. It’s  completed as I’m writing this post and I will scan the final montage portrait tomorrow. I have also been at the framers today, collected two framed paintings; one of Ravin and the other of the little Lemur I painted in mixed media. They both look gorgeous and I will photograph and blog them tomorrow too.

Stage four of Aiko and Zuki

This is a photo of me painting stage four of the two Shiba’s Aiko and Zuki. As you can see by comparing the hand next to the painting, it’s not a huge painting at all. The photo didn’t come out very well at all though, it looks like it has a sepia filer applied to it. The colors look quite different in reality, but you will have to leave those to the imagination until the painting is completed and scanned. The portrait will be completed and posted here in Friday.
