Horse Portrait in Pastel of Magic
So Yesterday I completed the Portrait of horse “Magic” in pastel. Today I took the time to finally scan and to blog it. I scanned the portrait in two parts and had to make some color adjustments to it too, but the colors are sill not exactly the same as the original. Well, it’s not such a big difference anyway. So for the rest of this week I will only paint with oils as I have to paint the next stage of Alice and Hunter. I have to get things going here in the studio, it’s so frustrating when I too often have other things to do, but to paint.

Happy Cleint photos of Mike with Harley
Yesterday I got two wonderful photos of Mike and Harley with the portrait I created of Harley in Pastel. This was a Christmas gift for Mike and he was delighted with it. Thought it would be nice to share the photos now, since it will take some time before they will be added to my Photo Testimonial page.

Framed Black Wolf Painting
This wolf painting is framed the same way as my previous wildlife painting (the Ring-tailed Lemur). Since these paintings are so realistic, they can be framed like photos are. Photos always look so nice with black mounts and I really think these paintings do well with the black mount too. The black moulding is a wonderful completion to the entirety.

Framed Dog Portrait of Abbey
The client wanted a framing like the Ring-tailed Lemur I got framed not too long ago. She also chose the ClearColour glass which has both UV protection and anti-reflex without grain or blur.

Black Wolf Painting in Mixed Media
So this is my second miniature painting in mixed media. It’s of a black, almost black wolf with a mottled background. I really love the colors and the feeling in this painting and it’s bigger than the first one I painted. It is really nice to experiment with mixed media, trying to get the best of out the mediums I’m using. This wildlife painting is (just like the lemur) painted with watercolor, gouache and soft pastel. Hope you like it…

Framed Painting of Ring-tailed Lemur
This is my miniature painting of the Ring-tailed Lemur I painted in mixed media. I wanted to have a simple framing which really makes the painting the center point. Just love it!

Framed Portrait of Ravin
This is the framed portrait of Ravin. The client commissioned three portraits in sketchy pastel, so all three will have a similar framing. This moulding is available in three colors, so one framing is black and two will be brown. The first portrait was of Sauron.

Border Collie Portrait in Sketchy Pastel
This is the final scan of Border Collie Abbey. It is a montage painting with a big portrait in the middle and three smaller paintings on the sides. I have sent a bigger image to the client to view and approve since it’s so small on the website. This pastel sketch took 14 hours to complete. Now I will take some photos of the two framed paintings I have here in my studio and blog them in the evening.

Miniature Painting of Ring-taled Lemur
Since I have taken some time off for my own projects over the Christmas and New Year I wanted to start experimenting with mixed media. I have got permission to use many photos from a photographer and started up with a small painting of a  cute Ring-taled lemur. The mediums I have used here are watercolor, gouache and a touch of soft pastel. The sketch was drawn with a h2 graphite pencil. This miniature lemur painting is in size 17 x 13 cm. I have already taken this painting to the framers along with the pastel sketch of Ravin I recently painted. I found this so fun to do so I already started with the next painting in line.

Pastel Sketch of Ravin
This is the pastel sketch of the day, of working Tervueren Ravin. It is a 30 x 25 cm sized portrait and took 6 hours to complete. I just love this sketch, love everything about it…Â from the colors, the light, to the entirety. Well, some paintings just get better than others, even though they are only sketches. I also love Ravin’s expression here, he is such a clever young boy!
