Today I started with the portrait of the cat George in Pastel. He is very cute, behind the Christmas tree :). I’m still in the beginning of the process, but I’m having allot of fun painting with pastel. The Portrait is painted on UART sanded paper, 800 grade. I decided to use the finest grade because there won’t be any paint in the background and I want to get the line between George and the paper as soft as possible.

I’m finally back from my vacation and today was my first working day
I completed the fifth step of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Painting and photographed it a few minutes ago. To refresh your memory about how the fourth step looked, follow the King Charles Spaniel text here. As can be seen, I have changed quite allot from the previous step and now I can only look ahead and complete the painting.

So I have been busy with things in general, not so much with painting but doing other things before I go to holiday. We leave for 1 month each time, and that’s a long holiday most people say. Today I have been painting the Polar Bear which was commissioned by Orsa Grönklitt. There is still allot of work left to do, but that will have to wait a few days until this layer dries. Its just so much easier to paint details and lighten areas up when the paint underneath is dry
I will go to my framer tomorrow, to collect the framed Sirri and Rashi. I want to send all the paintings before I leave. I will also continue painting the Cavalier King Charles spaniels tomorrow since the Polar Bear needs to dry anyway. I have promised to complete this painting before I leave too.
Well, I have made some investments for my little company, bought some great lamps (daylight lamps) for photographing my completed paintings. I though this will be less expensive in the long run for my prints, which I will continue painting after my holidays. First I studied and read allot of articles on the web about how to take photos of paintings, then I bought the lamps I needed. I’m very happy that I bought a macro objective together with my EOS camera three years ago. This is the best objective for taking photos of paintings, many say and I experienced that myself when I tested to take some shots a few days ago. It’s just so expensive to go to a photo studio each time you need to take new photos of a painting, go figure

Today I have also been painting the two kittens and will soon start with details. I just have to wait one day for it to dry a bit. These two paintings are the last commissions I will create before I travel to Slovenia and Croatia, I will also try to complete the King Charles painting before I leave.

This is step three of Samantha, the paint is not dry and the photo doesn’t look good because the paint shines. Still, I wanted to blog the progress today.

In my work in progress blog everyone can follow their portrait from the a simple sketch to a completed Pet, Family Portrait or Print. See also my latest completed website designs, logos and illustrations. If someone ordered a portrait, they are able to ask questions and make suggestions as I'm painting it. This benefit is of great value to me and my clients because they are constantly updated and it gives them a peace of mind.
