Progress Photos, New Colorful Oil Paintings & Framed Drawing

Cocker Spaniel Oil Painting in Progress

Since I have some many pictures to blog at the same time I decided to create one post for them all. First you see both second and third stage of Cocker Spaniel Ronnie in oils. The third stage is what I call “the dark stage”. I paint everything quite dark in order to work from dark to light next. I have much work left on this painting and hopefully I will be able to continue with it tomorrow.

Colorful Dog Portraits in Oils

I have created two new colorful pop art dog portraits in oils and they are both small, size 15 x 20cm. The first oil painting is of Staffordshire Bull Terrier “Soja” and the second one is of Leonberger puppy “Estrella”.

Framed Pencil Drawing

Below you see the framed pencil drawing of horse and “cowboy” I created weeks ago. I went to collect the drawing yesterday and took some photos to blog and show them to my client. The aim was to make it simple and both me and the framer like the outcome so let’s hope the client will like it too. We didn’t want a black moulding as that took away to much from the main focus, which is the drawing of course. That was all for today :).

Initial Stage of Cocker Spaniel in Oils

This is the initial stage of Cocker Spaniel Ronnie in traditional oils which I will complete next week. I have painted the sketch with acrylics with allot of water, much like watercolors. Naturally it dries very fast and the painting is ready for the next stage, blocking in all large areas with oils. This cocker spaniel painting will be a challenge since the main photograph is blurry and I can’t see the eyes there, I therefor look at two reference photographs to get it all right.

This is the last painting I will complete and send before my vacation. In between the conté pastel portrait of the two white cats (which is already delivered to USA) and this painting, I have also completed two small colorful oil paintings which I will post in my blog next week. The horse and “cowboy” pencil drawing is at the framers right now and I will drive over to collect it before they close down for their vacation next week. The client wanted me to wait and that is why the pencil drawing had to wait here in my Studio.

Cat Portrait in Progress of Zara and Spock

Yesterday I started with the drawing of two white cats in pastel. First I wrote their names and later sketched up both cats, it’s always best to do the lettering first because if something goes wrong I won’t ruin anything else than a piece of paper. I’m using Canson Mi Tientes Touch paper which has some texture and tooth, so that wasn’t an easy task to do. A special black ball-point pen was used for the lettering.
