Starting up a new Pet Portrait

Friday, February 5th, 2010

This is the first stage of Farley. Its a watercolor portrait in the size little bigger then 7 x 9 inch. Its because I create a bigger portrait to fit the dimensions rather then trying to squeeze in the subject on a size that doesn’t quite fit in. The portrait would be too small and I really don’t want that. At first I paint the bigger areas with light colors. I also paint the subject with colors which reflect the environment or background, in this case blue. I will finish the portrait next week.

I will also start to paint the oil portrait of Glinka and the first Limited edition Print of King Charles Spaniels, in the park. Since I can’t paint in Saturday and Sunday, I will take the time to update a website for a client and also create a logotype for a Pet Shop here in Sweden next week. The Logotype will have the same style as the illustrations which I created for a book.

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Finally I managed to complete the little painting of Lilo and I found the time to post it here. It’s a small watercolor portrait in size 7×9 inch. Watercolor is not an easy medium to work with, but I do love this portrait! It will definitely go to my online gallery one I will have to add it there.

First step of Lilo in watercolors

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Today I had allot of work with a clients web site when I updated it for him. I also added a new work in progress for a oil portrait of two cute dogs. After that I started to work on the watercolor of the little doggy Lilo. I fist made a sketch with pencil, with lines drawn as exact as possible. After the sketch I start to fill out the big areas with base color.

So here is Lilo:
