Client’s Photos - Watercolor Pet Portrait of Farley

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

While I was on vacation a client of mine was kind enough to send me some photos she took of her uncle opening his gift, which was a portrait I created for his birthday. It’s a watercolor pet portrait of Farley I painted a while ago. This is what she wrote:

Hi Katja,

I hope you are enjoying the summer.  I just remembered I never sent you the photos of my Uncle George opening up the picture of Farley.  He absolutely loved it!   My aunt and uncle hung said everyone who comes into the room compliments them on the beautiful portrait.  Thanks again!

Take Care,
Sarah Guidotti

Pet Portrait of Tervueren - step5

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I decided to paint one more layer to the Tervueren female Glinka before adding any details. So this is how the portrait looks right now. It will change quite a bit before it’s completed though. I’m hoping the paint will dry soon enough for me to complete the portrait this week. I’m still thinking about which frame to choose for Glinka’s portrait, but I’m almost sure about which one would be suitable.

Starting up a new Pet Portrait

Friday, February 5th, 2010

This is the first stage of Farley. Its a watercolor portrait in the size little bigger then 7 x 9 inch. Its because I create a bigger portrait to fit the dimensions rather then trying to squeeze in the subject on a size that doesn’t quite fit in. The portrait would be too small and I really don’t want that. At first I paint the bigger areas with light colors. I also paint the subject with colors which reflect the environment or background, in this case blue. I will finish the portrait next week.

I will also start to paint the oil portrait of Glinka and the first Limited edition Print of King Charles Spaniels, in the park. Since I can’t paint in Saturday and Sunday, I will take the time to update a website for a client and also create a logotype for a Pet Shop here in Sweden next week. The Logotype will have the same style as the illustrations which I created for a book.

Finally new website uploaded on pet-art.net!

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Hi all!

I have been working on my website for a long time (about 7 months) and finally uploaded it yesterday! I have had many new websites and logotypes to create, and I’m still working with the illustrations and new pet portrait commissions, that’s why I had to work with my web site in the evenings. It took 2 hours to upload and check out errors, creating new google sitemap and looking for something I might have forgotten in the process.

There are many new features on my new website, such as my Portrait Guide, Newsletter, Portraits of people, illustration work, painting steps and framing and care. Check it out! The new website has a new design and all texts are new and allot better. The funny thing about it all is that I now find it easier to write in English and because of the lack of time I have, I had to give away the text for professional translation to the Swedish language. That didn’t cost me anything, since I will create a painting of her cat for the trouble of translating 30 word pages.

I have already got some positive feedback from my visitors who already yesterday sent me emails, telling how good they think my new web site looks and how easy it is to find good information about my services. Well, I’m very happy that I put so much work into it!

Enjoy!

Pencil Pet portrait of Malinois ”Thor”

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

The latest drawing I created in size A3 of Malinois Thor. This is the second commission from the same family. The first time Mario contacted me to draw his other, older Belgian Malinois “Zoran” (two years ago) and he was delighted with it. This time his wife contacted me to draw their other malinois “Thor” as a birthday gift for Mario. I’m sure he will be very happy to receive this portrait.
It is so nice to get commissions from someone who knows exactly how to do it right. She sent three high quality photos, along with a description of Thor, telling exactly what size and medium she wants to commission. I made the mock-up and sent it, everything went exactly like it should and not many emails had to be sent back and forward. Wish it would always be like that. So here he is:
