First two steps of girl portrait in oil

Friday, March 26th, 2010

These are the first two steps of Alexandra, she is 20 years old now, but she was 3-4 years old on the photo. Her mother wanted to have a portrait done of her when she was a little child. Alexandra has a very sweet look on this photo so its understandable why this is one of mother’s favorite photos of her.

I will now let it dry over the weekend and continue working with all current artworks next week.

First step of Leopard painting

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Today I have been painting the first step of a Leopard commissioned by Orsa Grönklitt. The painting will be printed on various products and this is the third time they contact me for painting creations. It is very nice to have returning clients :) . It will be interesting to see just how much better these two new paintings will get… then the older ones, which they commissioned some time ago. It is very important to evolve as an artist all the time and I think I have in the last year at least. Well, we are all learning all life long :) I sketched and blocked in the background as a start.

Cavalier and Springer Spaniel painting in progress

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Today and yesterday I spent my working hours on the dog paintings I’m creating for limited edition prints. Yesterday I worked on the Cavalier king Charles and today on the English springer spaniel. Now it has to dry for some time and I will mostly work with the next commissions in line. Can’t wait to start since I have big challenges in front of me and I love that.

Today Agi Kiss contacted me and told me that English version of the book, (which I created the digital illustrations for) is coming my way pretty soon. I just can’t wait to receive it!!! I have been waiting for so long.

Pet Portraits in oil – Tervueren Glinka

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

The painting of Glinka is finally completed and was dry enough today for me to scan. The problem with black is that it shines allot before it’s dry, that doesn’t look good when scanned. I rather wait and get it right then hurry it all. When the portrait is sent to the client I will never be able to scan it again and I really want to have my scanned portraits beautiful to show in the online gallery for as long as I want. So here she is:

Now back to work….

Two paintings in progress

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I have also been working on the two paintings which will be limited edition prints this week. I’m adding little to them each day between the other works I have to do. This is how far I’ve got.

Pet Portrait of Tervueren – step5

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I decided to paint one more layer to the Tervueren female Glinka before adding any details. So this is how the portrait looks right now. It will change quite a bit before it’s completed though. I’m hoping the paint will dry soon enough for me to complete the portrait this week. I’m still thinking about which frame to choose for Glinka’s portrait, but I’m almost sure about which one would be suitable.

English Springer Spaniel Painting in Progress

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Today I blocked in one more layer of background on Glinka´s Portrait and its now hanging on my wall, drying for the next and last step. The background is smoother and makes Glinka stand out beautifully. Later today I also started to paint the next oil painting which will be reproduced as Fine Art Giclée Limited edition prints on canvas or paper. The breed is Enlgish springer spaniel and I got photos of the dog from a breeder in Norway. I also got the other photo from the same breeders, which I will paint a head study of from later. The photos are really beautiful, thanks! Of course this the reference photo you can see on the left is a montage, created from many different photos with changed lights and colors. I’m really looking forward to complete this one, can’t wait.

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Today I started up my first painting in oils for Limited edition prints. The reference photo to the left is a montage of many different photos and with changed lights. It’s a guide for me to get back to when I’m painting. This doesn’t mean that it will look exactly the same at the end. Photos of the dogs are taken by a professional photographer, her name is Petra Wegner. The photos are in best quality possible. She will get an Artist proof Giclée Print on cavas for letting me use her photos for this print. Of course this is only the first in line. The size of the original painting is not that very big; 55 x 74 cm. I haven’t yet decided how big the prints will be.
