Digital illustration/Logotype for Bamses Bollar

Friday, February 26th, 2010

This is my latest work (finished today) for a Pet shop here in Sweden, called “Bamses Bollar” which means Bamse’s balls :) . The illustration will be used for various things, including logotype and header of the website. It is made with help of a drawing board (tablet) in same style as the illustrations I created for a book were. The dogs are hand drawn with help of this drawing board and are not just painted over some photos. I used many photos as reference for this illustrations. The breeds included in this illustration are Leonberger and Chihuahua.

Pet Portraits in Progress, step three of Glinka

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Yesterday I first went to the framer to Frame the completed Dog Portrait of Farley. The framer promised to complete it already today, so I will probably drive away in the snow to collect it later. Yesterday I also painted the third  step of Tervueren Glinka and wanted to let it dry at least over night, to take some photos of it. Its very dark in this room, people often ask me how I can paint in this light. Well, I like it this way when it comes to painting but to take photos in the dark can be very hard, as you can see on the photo below. Well, at least you can see how far I’ve got in the progress.

Watercolor Pet Portraits , Farley completed

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

So today I decided to just complete the painting without any more stages uploading in the blog. The reason for this is that I just couldn’t  stop painting it today and why stop when everything goes so well!? Anyways, I think this Dog Portrait turned out very well and this is now my favorite watercolor Portrait. I don’t have a clue why though, perhaps because of the colors. This photo taken of the Watercolor is a bit bigger then the original, so of course the original looks even better. I hope you like it :)

Tomorrow I will keep working on the illustration logo which I started to work on last week. It will be interesting how this will turn out too, but I’m pretty confident it will look awesome. Its just so much fun to paint on a drawing pad every once in a while.

Tervueren Portrait in oils – step 1 and 2

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Today I have been working on a smaller oil on linen Portrait of the Tervueren female Glinka. I painted the first two steps. The portrait is in size 40 x 30cm and will pretty much look like the photo to the left, but with more neck. Now I will have to wait for the paint to dry a bit, in order to block in rest of the canvas. Anyway, Glinka is a pretty and smart girl and its of course my favorite breed since I own a Belgian Tervueren myself :)

Now I will spend rest of my working hours to pack the Framed Portrait of Dingo and Kassi. It really needs to be packed carefully, since the package will include glass.

Watercolor Dog Portraits – second step of Farley

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

This is the second step of Farley. I worked on the Portrait in the morning, before I went to the Framer and I think its looking better and better. Hope you like it so far… Tomorrow I will start to sketch on Glinka’s Portrait. I changed the mock-up a bit, added more neck to her.

Framed Pet portraits in Coloured Pencil

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Today I went to collect the Framed Colored Pencil drawing of Dingo and Kassi. I created a photo of how the drawing would look Framed for my client, which she also chose right away. The only thing me and the Framer changed; was that we added one additional Mount under the lighter one. This changed my initial visualization photo a bit, but made the real drawing look even better. The client chose the more expensive glass from Nielsen Bainbridge UV60, which really makes a big difference from normal glass. That is truly visible in the photos below.

A new tool on my website – “At the Framers place”

Monday, February 8th, 2010

This is a new thing I have been working on, late in the evenings for a week. I’m very happy to introduce my “At the Framers place” Framing visualising tool :) . This tool, which is made in Flash (by me) is a perfect addition for me and my clients to be able to visualise their final painting next to my selection of Frame Mouldings and Mounts/Mats them selves, right on the computer screen. The Mounts/Mats can be colored with selected colors in the tool. Its late, and I have been working all day so I  don’t think I need to explain that my eyes are squared. I just can’t write that much right now :) . This is only a picture of the tool, so click on the link and it will take you to the Framing visualising tool >

Have fun with it!

Starting up a new Pet Portrait

Friday, February 5th, 2010

This is the first stage of Farley. Its a watercolor portrait in the size little bigger then 7 x 9 inch. Its because I create a bigger portrait to fit the dimensions rather then trying to squeeze in the subject on a size that doesn’t quite fit in. The portrait would be too small and I really don’t want that. At first I paint the bigger areas with light colors. I also paint the subject with colors which reflect the environment or background, in this case blue. I will finish the portrait next week.

I will also start to paint the oil portrait of Glinka and the first Limited edition Print of King Charles Spaniels, in the park. Since I can’t paint in Saturday and Sunday, I will take the time to update a website for a client and also create a logotype for a Pet Shop here in Sweden next week. The Logotype will have the same style as the illustrations which I created for a book.

The Colored Pencil portrait of Dachshund’s Dingo and Kassi is completed. Kassi is the Wire-Haired dog and Dingo is the Long-haired one. Pet Portraits like these, looks so wonderful! Hope the client likes it :) Now, let’s see which frame to choose for it.
