Last step 5 images of Robin and Tuffe

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

When I painted step 5 of Tuffe I posted the progress image in my blog some time ago. Now I’m also posting the step 5 image of Robin which I have been working on in between Christmas. I have also painted yet another layer in the background so I’m including a photo of the whole painting too. Its often too dark in here to take photos and the right colours just aren’t possible for me to show in my progress photos, but still its better like this then no progress images at all. Now I have ONLY all the details and other things to complete :)

I’m also working on my new website which I have been working on for 10 months now and I’m hoping to complete it soon. That will probably be my last new website for several years as its just too much work with that, even though I love to create websites.

Work in Progress – Tuffe step5

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

I continued working on the next step of Tuffe yesterday and today. Now I will leave the portrait of Tuffe to dry before I continue working on him. I will be painting next step of Robin tomorrow and in Monday.

I’m also happy to announce that the Japanese Pet Portraits web site about my work is nearly completed and I just have to send them bigger views of the selected portraits which will be shown over there. They told me that artwork is allot more expensive in Japan and the prices are 200% more expensive then the portraits purchased directly from me. Well after all the work they put down and if they will pay allot of money for marketing they also need to make some money right? I’m just wondering if they will get anything sold though :) I sure hope so…

German Shepherd Pet portraits – painting in oils on linen canvas

Friday, December 11th, 2009

This is Candie, the German Shepherd living in Brazil. I have been painting this portrait every now and then in between my other commissions. Sometimes I had a feeling that this painting took too many hours to complete but that wasn’t true. It just took too long before it got back to my easel each time. Well, now its finished and I’m happy with it. Let’s hope the owner will be happy with it too.

This portrait is not a regular commission, me and the dogs owner will also use this for Giclee Fine Art Prints on canvas and on high quality paper. It will be an open edition print and will probably also appear on various products in the future.

Oil portraits in progress, step four

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Today I have been working on the oil painting Robin and Tuffe. I added one more layer to the background first and later also painted one more layer of the subjects. This is only a draft so the hardest work is still left to be done. I think they look good already and the painting is hanging in my living room to dry.

Tomorrow I will be painting the German shepherd which I still haven’t completed. Well it was in no hurry so I worked on other portraits in between. It will be interesting how the finished portrait will look.

Horse Portraits in Watercolours – Final scan

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Today I completed the watercolor painting of the horse Adrian. The portrait was a challenge because of the reference photo but with help of a different background which gave a different general impression the painting turned out nice. The close up photo is bigger then the actual painting so of course that doesn’t look as good as the original. I tried to photograph the panting as I did with Dodger but that didn’t turn out good at all. So I had to scan it, even though I said I would never do that again with my watercolors. Hope you like it :)

Step three of Adrian

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Today I went to send some portraits and continued working on the watercolor portrait of Adrian. I still have allot of work left to do with it, but I’m going to continue working on him today. If its not going to be completed today, then its going to be completed tomorrow. Here is the photo of step three:

Here is step three of Robin and Tuffe… This step is basically about filling out rest of the canvas :) I will now paint next layer in the background before I continue with the subjects.

Framed Pet portraits

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

The Framed portrait of Doberman Hunter arrived yesterday! I took some photos of the framed portrait to send to the client and I’m also posting them here, in my blog. The frame is the same as the one we used for Agnes and Spice Boy but in a different color (black with golden inner edge). The frame really fits Hunter perfectly :) I think this is my favorite frame for the smaller oils.

Watercolor Dog Portraits of Dodger – Final scan

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

So the Watercolor portrait of Dodger is finished. Its a very small sized portrait but I think it came out nicely anyway. From now on I will never scan my watercolors, they look much better when photographed, like Dodger do. The scan simply destroys the colors even though I try to correct them in a photo editing program after canning it. Hope you like it.
