Pet portraits in oils – Step three of Doberman Hunter

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Because the Agnes and Spiceboy oil painting must dry one more day I took the time to fill out the background of Hunters portrait today. I will simplify and make the background warmer then the actual photo mock-up and because the colors look like they do right now, it doesn’t necessary  mean they will look like this when the panting is finished. The photo mock-up is only a guide to the painting process. I will make sure to take a photo of me when I´m painting Hunter at a later stage.

Horse portrait as work in progress

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Yesterday I painted another layer to the background, so now the entire linen canvas is filled in. The background is not finished, I have allot more work to do there, but I can now at least move on to complete it. Tomorrow i will paint another layer to Agnes and the Horse, so lets see how it will turn out. Im hoping to finish this painting next week, but it all depends how fast  the paint will dry between the layers.

Pet portraits as work in progress – Doberman Hunter

Monday, September 28th, 2009

This is a commission which has to be completed for Christmas. I´m uploading step one and two of the oil painting progress today. The Doberman I´m currently painting sadly passed away at a very young age and his name was Hunter. He is missed by the owner and this will be the perfect Christmas gift for her. The background will be a beautiful meadow with blurry trees in the background.

Tomorrow I will keep on working on the oil painting of  horse and girl, that painting needs to be completed very soon so I will be working mostly on the one this week.

Pet Portraits (and girl) in progress

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

For some days I have been painting Agnes and Spice Boy, I painted step two and three and I´m blogging the images today. This is the first layer of paint, although the canvas is not filled in entirely because parts of the background needs to dry a bit. The portrait of Agnes will be a challenge because its so small on the canvas, but I like challenges so it´s alright :) I will paint the background little warmer then the actual photo and make it look little simpler so that both Agnes and Spice Boy will look like they are about to jump out of the canvas.

I also took back the German Shepherd portrait to my easel this week and this is how far I got. Now parts of the draft painting is completed so I will after one more layer of paint go ahead to start with some details.

I´m also almost finished with designing the portal web site template I´m currently working on. They wanted to use some of my paintings for the design so I will get lifetime, free advertising on that site.

First step of Agnes and Spice Boy

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

This is the first step of the oils on canvas portrait I´m currently working on. I started to sketch it all up with thin black color mixed with turpentine. The subjects on this painting are Agnes and Spice Boy (the horse) and the painting will of course also include a nice light and warm background.

Hope you like it so far…

Watercolor portrait, step four to six

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Yesterday I was working on a cool logo for a huge pet website, unfortunately I can`t blog the logo yet because it`s highly classified until further notice. I will however blog it along with the completed web site once its finished and online. I’m creating only the website design with template in CSS and div tags because the website will be created in PHP with a database. I cant wait for it to be finished, but hey I need to create the template first :) :)

So today I was working with the watercolors portrait again and its going pretty fast, I have allot of work left to do on it though. Tomorrow I will start with a oil painting of a girl and a horse. I will blog the first steps soon…

Watercolor portrait painting of Barbro and Fredrik

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Yesterday I started to sketch up this portrait and continued working on it through the day today. I’m posting step one to three right now. I can`t believe how long it can take to create a small watercolor portrait like this one. Well its probably because its so small and it can be hard to do something correct in such a tiny scale especially with watercolors. Nothing you see is finished yet, there are many steps left to do.

Montage Pencil drawing of working Malinois

Friday, September 4th, 2009

So I finally finished the montage pencil drawing with four small images. Even though they are small I think its important to try to draw as much detail as possible. I will send a bigger scan to the client.

I also received a photo of Taisho along with his framed drawing from my client a few days ago. Thank you, I love it!

Now I will start with a watercolor painting of a mom with her baby. The photo I received is pretty old and in poor quality, so lets see what I can do with it. I bought new watercolor brushes and colors some months ago so it will be fun to try them out.

Now back to work!
