Working on step 4

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Today I have been drawing Leif, done the entire face. The face is not completed entirely yet, as he looks a bit older then for real right now. But I prefer working this way, creating shadings a bit too dark from the beginning, because I’m still able to lighten them when required with help of my Knetgummi Art Eraser. I just love that eraser, because I can make any shape I want out of it. I started out with the shirt and I will only find the white lines first with help of the dark areas, after that find the right lightening and shadings. I find it easier to work this way.

Tomorrow I will start to draw the colored pencil drawing of Rottweiler Jack. I’m not shore if I will complete step one to post it tomorrow on the work in progress page and here, but I’m sure looking forward to start to sketch on the one!

Pencil Portrait in progress

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Today I have been drawing for the most part. It’s another drawing of a person and his name is Leif. It’s a small pencil drawing and I have fun while I’m drawing it. It can be quite frustrating to draw sometimes though, since children, dogs and other people run around here while I’m trying to find some inspiration in my head. Sometimes I have to fight for my right to work! For the most part I have been drawing on the hair and working with finding right depth on the cheeks. Now I will continue working with the forehead and the shirt, let’s see how it will turn out in step four. I will of course post it here in the blog too.

Other things I have done today are spending my time with answering to some e-mails and surfing around the internet, checking for some news about SEO. I quite don’t understand the new algorithm Google uses, but after reading some SEO forums it came to my knowledge that no one else does either. I do know that fresh content is great for a web site, but is has been like that for some time now.

Some people are asking me if I will have portrait courses in near future, but I really don’t have time for that right now as I have other things in mind. The time is flying… hours, days, weeks and years! My god, I have been doing this for years and still struggling with time to do everything I’m planning. I will give private lessons to some artists and students after February if I will find time.

Pencil portrait of Åke

Monday, October 20th, 2008

This is a small (A4) portrait in pencils of Åke. Its one my fist human portrait commissions and I will create three more pencil portraits for the same company. I think its fun to draw ”older” people because it’s happening so much in their faces. The drawings are gifts to this people. Before I used to only create portraits of pets, so this is a new offer on my website. It happened that visitors loved my pet portraits but didn’t have any pets to portray so they asked if I create human portraits as well. I then made up my mind to include portraits of people to my offers.

Dog Art for logotypes

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

This is my recent pencil drawing of an X Malinois named Rex III. X Malinois means a malinois that is mixed with another breed, in this case German shepherd. It’s a small (size A4) full body drawing created for a logotype that is visible below. Marc contacted me because he loved the Bluestem Malinois logo I created a long time ago. Marc runs a company that consults Police canine training and he was very pleased with how we worked together on this project.

New logotype and website

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

It has been a while since I wrote in my blog, but I really struggle with time and then the blog just doesn’t seem to be in my time schedule. It’s not always visible on my website, but I’m working on many new and old projects. I have only 4 out of 30 illustrations left to do, so that’s one of the things I have quietly been working on. I’m also working on two websites that have been left aside for a while and a whole new project that’s more for my future plans which I can’t really talk about now, but it will be revealed in time. Let’s not forget about the three Business cards (including my own) that took more of my time then planned.

Well, this is one of the things I have been working on, a vector based logotype and a very simple CSS based website for Computer Renovate which is a recently opened little company in Sweden. The site is not online yet, only picture is available at this time.
