Staffordshire Terrier Dog Portraits in Oils by Katja Turnsek
Dog Portrait Commission Info
Kevin initially contacted me to paint Poochi in sketchy oil, but as he had such wonderful reference photos I asked him if he would consider a detailed portrait instead.
He made a decision to have Poochi, the Staffordshire terrier painted in detailed oils. It's a small oil painting but still have wonderful colors, light and details. Kevin was delighted with the outcome and gave this as a birthday surprise to his partner.

The Reference Photograph of "Poochi"
Kevin sent me several nice and very detailed photos of Poochi. We decided to use the photo to the right as reference. I didn't have much work to do here, but I cropped the photo to suit the the size and deleted some of the background. I blurred and added some yellow ochre colors to the background as well.
Dog Portrait in Progress
Below you can view a few work in progress photos of this portrait. It is important for me that you understand the painting process at the same as you have a full input the entire time, that is why I’m prepared to spend some extra time in order to keep you regularly updated. I have had this feature for many years, even though I uploaded the progress images to a static html page at first. Now I use my portraits in blog for this exciting feature. If you do not wish to share your painting’s progress or the completed painting with the world, I can send you the progress images by email. Several clients decided to do this, especially famous ones.
Thank you so much for having the portrait arrive on time. My wife (and I) were both amazed at the painting. The detail is so incredible.
