Rhodesian Ridgeback Pet Portraits in Oil

Pet Portrait Commission Info

This is one special portrait of a special girl. Alice was a Rhodesian Ridgeback who sadly passed way too soon. The client commissioned this relatively large portrait of her, as the ultimate memorial of her special girl.

The dog portrait quite large, which makes it allot bigger than natural size. It's a really stunning portrait! This client also chose to have the painting framed by my local framer. We choose a lovely gold moulding which is hand painted and wide enough for such a big painting.

The Reference Photograph of "Alice"

Line provided with many beautiful photos and initially wanted me to paint another photo. She later decided to use this one, because Alice reminded her of an angel here. In the mock-p to the left I added a different background, edited the photo to have better light and more vibrant colors. I also added more body and completed the chain she had on her neck. Sometimes the mock-up alone requires allot of work.

Pet Portrait in Progress

Below you can view a few work in progress photos of this portrait. It is important for me that you understand the painting process at the same as you have a full input the entire time, that is why I’m prepared to spend some extra time in order to keep you regularly updated. I have had this feature for many years, even though I uploaded the progress images to a static html page at first. Now I use my portraits in blog for this exciting feature. If you do not wish to share your painting’s progress or the completed painting with the world, I can send you the progress images by email. Several clients decided to do this, especially famous ones.

Hi Katja!

The painting is absolutely fantastic, you've really captured my beautiful angel. Alice was my beloved soul mate, a very special little girl. The loss of her is huge, but every time I walk past the painting and see that beautiful look and personality, my heart swim with warmth. I am so thankful for this painting which brightens our home and will remind us every day of this beautiful little dog.
