This is a full-body portrait of Ripper in detailed oil. Ripper is an 11 year old Pitbull Terrier who is is a very loving dog and loves to make friends with everyone. He is gentle with children and is great with all sorts of animals. Winston, Ripper's owner contacted me to paint him with a detailed background of a Irish Castle.
The Portrait was painted year 2011 and is in size 40 x 35 cm. The overall feel I wanted to achieve is warmth, but with a cooler castle and bushes. By painting parts of the background with blue colors I could make the castle to seam in the far distance. The blue hues are also repeated all over the painting, which gives a clean entirety. I used a very limited palette when creating this painting.
