We got Shibutu (proper name) from her breeder near Atlanta, GA at 9 weeks of age after her birth on June 4, 1994 as we were driving to our summer home in Colorado. Upon arriving in Aspen, we took Butu to the vet for a checkup, and his first question to my wife was "Have this dog's feet ever touched the ground?" That will give you and idea of how my wife treated Butu.
Butu has traveled with us almost constantly in the 14 years we were lucky enough to have her. Those travels included Spain and France as well as dozens of cross-country drives and flights. She was a very good traveler and an incomparable companion. Having to put her to sleep on October 25 as we were traveling home to Florida from our home in Montana was terrible, and it was fortunate we were spending a few days with friends in New Orleans at the time. |
