Family Portraits in Oils by Katja Turnsek
Family Portrait Commission Info
This oil portrait of boy Robin with the family dog Tuffe is painted on linen canvas. Tuffe is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, a very sweet dog. This portrait is a gift from Robins dad to his mom and he also decided to have the oil painting framed by my local framer.
Unfortunately I don't have a written testimonial from Kent as we had contact through Phone through the entire process and they came to collect their Framed Painting at my parents place. They absolutley loved the painting i created for them.

The Reference Photographs of "Robin & Tuffe"
Kent provided with several great photos of his dog and son to use as reference. I created a simple mock-up of two photos and added suitable warm mottled colors to the background. I also softened up the bottom edges quite allot, this way Robin and Tuffe transition into and become one with the background below. It's never enough to just cut and paste, it wouldn't look natural. One reference photo is to the right and my mock-up is to the left.
Family Portrait in Progress
Below you can view a few work in progress photos of this portrait. It is important for me that you understand the painting process at the same as you have a full input the entire time, that is why I’m prepared to spend some extra time in order to keep you regularly updated. I have had this feature for many years, even though I uploaded the progress images to a static html page at first. Now I use my portraits in blog for this exciting feature. If you do not wish to share your painting’s progress or the completed painting with the world, I can send you the progress images by email. Several clients decided to do this, especially famous ones.
