Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Pet Portraits in Oils by Katja Turnsek
Pet Portrait Information
I created this oil painting out of seven photos. There was I time when I wanted to sell Fine Art Prints from paintings of domestic animals, but it turned out I just didn't have the time to complete that many paintings. I contacted a photographer in Germany to use her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel photos for the painting.
I sent her a Giclée print as payment for the photo usage once it was completed. Read more about how I created the mock-up before I started to paint. If you are interested in purchasing this oil painting, just send me an e-mail.

The Reference Photographs
Seven different photos were used to create this mock-up. For the background I used three, and then one for each dog. I had romantic vision of an autumn park with cavaliers on a bench, but not having all of them completely still in the picture. As you can see, one is curiously smelling on another dog and another dog is on the ground, trying to make someone else play. You can see one of the original photos to the right.
Dog Portrait in Progress
Below you can view a few work in progress photos of this portrait. It is important for me that you understand the painting process at the same as you have a full input the entire time, that is why I’m prepared to spend some extra time in order to keep you regularly updated. I have had this feature for many years, even though I uploaded the progress images to a static html page at first. Now I use my portraits in blog for this exciting feature. If you do not wish to share your painting’s progress or the completed painting with the world, I can send you the progress images by email. Several clients decided to do this, especially famous ones.
