African Savannah Cat Portrait in Graphite Pencil by Katja Turnsek
Cat Portrait Commission Info
Oliver is an African Savannah cat, but still a kitten on this drawing. This cat breed is very special as the act more like a cat / dog, than just a cat.
Marci commissioned a portrait of Oliver for her boyfriend´s birthday and the final pencil portrait was framed by my local framer. The pencil cat portrait was drawn on Fabriano Artistico, my new favorite paper.
Medium: Graphite Pencil
Size: 35 x 30 cm
Year Drawn: 2013
Subject: Cat / African Savannah / Oliver
Commissioned by: Marci Rathburn, USA
The Reference Photograph of "Oliver"
Marci provided with some nice photos for me to choose from and I ended up using this one. I have done a few changes like softened up the left side and deleted the entire background. I also made the body lighter to create even more dimension to the final drawing.
Cat Portrait in Progress
Below you can view a few work in progress photos of this portrait. It is important for me that you understand the painting process at the same as you have a full input the entire time, that is why I’m prepared to spend some extra time in order to keep you regularly updated. I have had this feature for many years, even though I uploaded the progress images to a static html page at first. Now I use my portraits in blog for this exciting feature. If you do not wish to share your painting’s progress or the completed painting with the world, I can send you the progress images by email. Several clients decided to do this, especially famous ones.
It looks absolutely amazing Katja!! I knew I picked a great artist. I went online initially and looked at 100's of artists and am so glad I went with you.
Thank you so much.
